Jessica Ramirez, DVM

Dr. Ramirez was born in New York, grew up in South Florida, and has deep family roots in Colombia where she first discovered her love for animals on her family’s farm. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology from the University of Miami, followed by her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University in 2010. After completing a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Affiliated Veterinary Specialists in Maitland, she returned home to practice in South Florida.

Dr. Ramírez has always gravitated toward internal medicine, emergency/critical care, and behavioral medicine cases. She’s committed to low-stress care for all of her patients and especially loves supporting senior pets and their devoted humans. She’s also completed certification courses in veterinary acupuncture as well as companion animal rehabilitation, blending traditional western and eastern medicine to help her patients thrive with more comprehensive care.

Outside of work, you’ll find her outside or on the move either paddle boarding, scuba diving, hiking, flowing through yoga, or planning her next big adventure. She lives with her two dogs, Marlin and Pua, and her two cats, Rey and Bruno, who are all fully certain they run the household… and she’s decided it’s easier not to argue with them.
